Press Release March 6, 2008AWESCO continues to grow in a competitive marketplace-- now the area’s largest independent distributor ALBANY, NY – The recent announcement that Airgas, a national distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gas, had acquired Albany-based Northeast Gas Technologies has further highlighted the consolidation of the Capital Region’s gas distribution market. The news comes in a month in which AWESCO, now the Capital Region’s largest independent gas distributor, is preparing to expand. “We are having so much growth,” said J. David Mahoney, the president and chief executive officer of AWESCO. “This consolidation is following a bigger trend, of national distributors grabbing up local, independent gas distributors. We have seen this before and we want to assure our customers that we are not going anywhere, to the contrary, we are preparing to announce significant expansion later this month.” AWESCO has been locally owned, operated and invested in the Capital District and Hudson Valley Region for 68 years.
